The Bacon Mansion is a delightfully unique bed and breakfast on Capitol Hill, Seattle. Whether you are interested in a romantic getaway, time with friends, a business meeting location, a special wedding site, or any other event, we are prepared to make your time with us wonderfully memorable. Below, you will find some of the amenities you can expect when you choose to stay with us.

IN ROOM: All guest rooms are furnished with cotton waffle cloths bathrobes, hair dryers, clock radio, digital cable television, water and wine glasses, corkscrew, two-inch wood Venetian blinds, down comforter, soap, conditioning shampoo, telephone(if needed), USB charging outlet.

AVAILABLE: Wi-Fi is available from most rooms, depending on your laptop receiver. Some guests have to come down to the living or dining room or patio for the strongest signal though I have added a 5 router transponder on the property that should solve most of the signal issue. You can borrow my Ipad if you need to look something up and you don't already have the means. If you need something printed this can be sent to the printer as it is wireless on on the network.

Use of an iron and ironing board, fridge and microwave (if one is not already in your room), fax , afternoon and evening hot water for tea, hot chocolate and cider, cookies, Via Coffee, New York Times and Seattle Times and a variety of magazines.

VARIETY: Since the Bacon Mansion is such a large house with a unique floor plan, we have eleven very distinct and different guest rooms. We have guests who, over the years, have stayed in them all and some guests who purchase their air ticket only after making sure their favorite room is available. We also have five rooms large enough to accommodate more than two.

COMMON AREAS: Guests are encouraged to make use of our spacious day rooms that include the original leaded glass library with tiled gas fireplace and large living room with six-foot grand piano. The back patio is the perfect place to relax and enjoy our magnificent summer weather, with long days and cool nights, low humidity and few bugs.

BREAKFAST: We serve a heart-healthy(no bacon), all you can eat, expanded continental breakfast every morning. On the sideboard, we put out three kinds of cereals, milk, three kinds of juices, freshly made fruit salad, and a large bowl of yogurt for you to help yourself. We bake fresh muffins every morning and have them on the table with butter, jam, cream and sugar. We will serve you as much freshly ground Coffee or a large selection of Tea as you would like. While our normal breakfast hours are 8:30 to 9:30, guests may request something earlier, or if before 7:30, we will set up in your room whatever you would like from the above offerings the day before. Our dining room table seats 14, we have guests come at various times, and we reset the table when needed. We have opted not to have reserved seating times, and guests rarely have to wait for a seat. In the summer months, we can set up a four-top on the covered porch outside of the living room.

LOCATION: We like to say that we are close enough to everything, yet far enough away. We have a great central location, just two blocks from the Broadway shopping and restaurant district here on Capitol Hill. We consider it an urban forest with great architectural variety. Volunteer Park is just a couple of blocks up the hill, with a water tower that offers a great view after climbing only 114 steps, and it is over $20 cheaper than the Space Needle or free. There is also the Seattle Asian Art Museum and Conservatory in the park. We are on the corner of two quiet residential streets, we can see the traffic and bus stop one block away, but can't hear it. The bus runs approximately every 15 minutes and takes you directly to the heart of the city, the Washington State Convention Center, and two blocks from the must-see Pike Place Market. As the edge of downtown is but one mile away, many guests walk down and take the bus home after touring all day. The bus heading the other way will take you to the University of Washington, which is just about 2 miles north.

Parking:  We have space in the driveway for 5 cars.  We encourage our guests to use the spots in front of the house on Prospect and Broadway if they are available, and the driveway as last resort, so it is hopefully available for checkins and late arrivals.  Though we live in a neighborhood that has zone parking, it is a strange one of 4 hours from Noon to 6 AM as posted but is not enforced in the evening for cars parked after 6 PM as they do not work past 9 PM.  So no need to worry when coming back in the evening.  Not everyone gets a car as they are not needed by many.  We will do our best to explain on arrival.  There is no charge for parking.
